Home staging tip: We all know that selling a house is no picnic, especially if you have been living in it for many years. Besides the emotional stress, homeowners have to deal with packing, decluttering, cleaning, fixing, painting and so on. It is a long to-do list, and many times it’s a list that sellers have to check off in a very short time. In addition to that, sometimes it is recommended to remove not only the smaller objects but also some of the furniture. Take this master bedroom for example. Built in the ’50s, the closets of this house were literally the size of a shower, therefore you can imagine the dismay of the poor homeowners when I told them that it would have been better to remove the armoire on the right in order to make the bedroom look bigger. Fortunately, they were very gracious (as luckily most of my clients are!) and did what I suggested. As you can see, the armoire was removed and the dresser was put in its place, and the bedroom definitely looks bigger. So, consider removing some furniture when necessary, and always remember that it is going to be only a temporary situation, worth to try.
